Deuteronomy 6:1-9: Listen, Love, Because (God and His People)
Sunday Sep 18, 2022
Sunday Sep 18, 2022
Welcome to the 3rd sermon in our series on the story of Deuteronomy. (3 of 12)
If we don’t read and understand the Hebrew Scriptures, we won’t understand the fullness of God’s story. We miss out on His work and activity in history and all that Christ accomplished. The story of Deuteronomy is the story of a God who continues to show mercy and grace to a people who continue to show their desperate need for it. A God who enters into a relationship with a people who could never live up to their end of the bargain. On the brink of the Promised Land, Moses recalls the story of this Covenant between God and His people.

Welcome to the 5th sermon in our series on the missional disciplines. (5 of 5)
The mission of Refuge is to “build our identity in Christ for the sake of the world.” One of the major ways we do that is to “practice” being like Jesus: following him, trusting him, becoming more of who we really are by practicing Gospel truths. This is not an effort to change who we are, it’s actually an effort to become MORE of who we now are, in Christ. What we do individually in growing our relationship with Jesus, what we do with fellow followers of Jesus in growing our relationship as the Church, and what we do as the Church in proclaiming and demonstrating this new Kingdom are all important.
For the rest of August, we are going to look at 5 practices of mission or spiritual disciplines of mission. God has gifted each of us in different ways to see and be passionate about these areas, and when we work together in harmony, we carry out the mission of the church while gloriously and freely giving of our selves and leaving the results to the work of the Holy Spirit!
The 5 practices we will be looking at are:
- Engaging in Public Faith
- Gathering for Public Worship
- Ministries of Compassion, Mercy, and Justice
- Integrating Work and Faith
- Hospitality
Each of these practices are incredibly important in the life of the New Testament Church, and we want to learn how to practice each of these better, together, as we continue to build our identity in Christ for the sake of the world!

Leviticus 23:33-44: Feast of Booths (Rhythms and Feasts)
Sunday Jul 24, 2022
Sunday Jul 24, 2022
Welcome to the 8th sermon in our series on the yearly feasts that God ordained in Leviticus 23. (8 of 8)
When God designed the world, he brought order out of chaos. He made dominions of light and dark, skies and seas and land. He put things in order to guide and govern the way the world operated. He established a kingdom that he would rule over, commissioned Adam and Eve as good overseers, gave them instructions, and then rested on his throne to begin his reign. In all of these things, God gave an “ought-ness” to the world…a rhythm. These are the bases not only of laws and rules, but of seasons and celebrations. In Leviticus 23, God gave his people an annual rhythm of feasts, “holy convocations,” to rest and remember, cease and celebrate, feast and focus.
