Matthew 6:5-15: Approaching our Father (Identity in Christ)
Sunday Aug 31, 2014
Sunday Aug 31, 2014
Welcome to the 3rd sermon in our series on our identity in Christ. (3 of 3)
Building our identity in Christ for the sake of the world. That is the mission statement of Refuge. What does that mean for us? What does that mean for the world around us? We are not out to change the world, that is God’s job. We are out to have our identity transformed by what Christ has done, believing that the more we as a people reflect who Jesus is (not by being perfect, but by finding our identity in him) the more the city will rejoice.

Sunday Mar 23, 2014
Welcome to the 3rd sermon in our series on the book of 1 Peters (3 of 8).
For nearly 1700 years in the western world, Christianity has played a major role in the government. That has changed…and it’s OK. Since Genesis 3 the world has been in rebellion against God. If the world is in rebellion against God, then it makes sense that it would also be in rebellion against Christianity, that Christianity wouldn’t quite fit in the world. Peter wrote to Christians that were dealing with social ostracization and marginalization. Many of their behaviors were looked at peculiarly. They didn’t belong to the popular culture. Peter reminds them of what really matters and of what they should trust. Join us as we walk through an encouraging first letter from Peter that reminds us that Christianity is not a voting bloc, rather a living hope!

Sunday Oct 27, 2013
Welcome to the 22nd sermon in our series on how God has worked in history. (22 of 24)
When you hear the word hero, what comes to mind? Heroes of faith? Everyday heroes? War heroes? Superheroes? What about God? Some of us see God as a “dictator in the sky” that commands what will take place on earth. We may see God as removed and disinterested or like a cheerleader or a grandfather that spoils us. What informs your view of God? In this series we are going into the stories of the book of Exodus to examine real historical stories of real people dealing with real problems. We will discover who God truly is through what he has done.

Sunday Aug 11, 2013
Sunday Aug 11, 2013
Welcome to the 4th sermon in our series on how God is working in our city. (4 of 4)
God intends The Church to be a contrast society. It is to show a watching world how to do community, to be the place where the divisions that are present in the culture are absent. Martin Luther King Jr. wrote “There was a time when the church was very powerful – in the time when the early Christians rejoiced at being deemed worthy to suffer for what they believed. In those days the church was not merely a thermometer that recorded the ideas and principles of popular opinion; it was a thermostat that transformed the mores of society.” Join us as some guest speakers share how God is still working powerfully in people and guiding them to change our community.
