Exodus 20:7: What's in a name? (I Fought the Law)
Sunday Sep 29, 2019
Sunday Sep 29, 2019
Welcome to the 3rd sermon in our series on the 10 Commandments (3 of 11).
Perhaps no set of rules or laws are more better known, more widely used, more foundational than the 10 Commandments. But are these just a set of rules or laws? Are these just good morals by which we should all live? Are they obvious to human nature...or do they reveal more? A Divine order, perhaps? If humans were trying to create a god, is the one revealed in the 10 Commandments the one we would come up with? Are they still even relevant to us?
This fall, we are going to take a walk through the 10 Commandments and see the nature of the Law, the nature of God and our only hope of redemption. Our hope is not to see just a set of morals by which we should live, but to find grace in the One who met every requirement and calls us to follow Him. If you’ve fought the Law and the Law won, you’re at the perfect place for the grace of Jesus.

Welcome to the 16th sermon in our series on the Psalms of Ascent (16 of 16).
“The essential thing ‘in heaven and earth’ is...that there should be long obedience in the same direction; there thereby results, and has always resulted in the long run, something which has made life worth living.” - Friedrich Nietzsche
We are going to spend this summer in the “Songs of Ascent” (Psalms 120-134). Through these songs, we are going to remember and walk along the Way that leads to salvation. We will remember, walk together, and sing of the greatness of our God. He will guide us; He will commune with us; He will refine us; He will call us to repentance and trust...and we will follow...the long path of obedience.
“Thomas said to him, “Lord, we do not know where you are going. How can we know the way?” Jesus said to him, “I am the way...”
