Introduction to the Corinthians (Sinners & Saints)
Sunday Sep 23, 2018
Sunday Sep 23, 2018
Welcome to the 1st sermon in our series on 1 & 2 Corinthians. (1 of 22)
The city of Corinth was a city of wealth, a city of indulgence, a city of politics and a city of wild pagan rituals. Several New Testament evangelists came to Corinth to tell the people about Jesus and many lives were changed! However, like all of us, the changes took time. The old habits and practices were slow to die and the seeds of new life grew slowly. So Paul wrote these letters to rebuke but encourage these very young followers of Jesus as they transformed from sinners to saints.

1 Peter 3:13-17: Now, What Should We Do? (Bearing Witness)

Welcome to the 2nd sermon in our series on sharing the gospel. (2 of 2)
How do we share the gospel? Why do we share the gospel? It’s not necessarily going up to strangers on the street. It is rarely a one-time conversation. Let me start with a great freedom - you can’t save anyone! You cannot bring life out of death, and there is a glorious freedom in that. 1 Peter 1:3-5 says “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you, who by God’s power are being guarded through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.” It is Christ alone that can bring faith. This ought to produce a great confidence and hope and a tremendous motivation to share the gospel. We are not called to manipulate or lie or guilt or really even convince people into following Jesus. We are called to bear witness to the hope that is in us. We are called to give testimony in word and deed.
